Melchett was definitely one of Australia's Top Springers. 
"In 2000 he had the best Specialty record of any Springer, with a BIS at the NSW October Specialty, CC and Runner Up BIS at the Victorian Specialty and Res CC dog at the April Specialty in NSW."
Not just a Multi Ch All Breeds BIS winner, he has Three Ch Specialty BIS wins with a further two Specialty Runner Up in Show and CC and Best Opposite in Show! He has a further three Res CCs at Specialties! At Royals, he has had 5 BOBs and two runner up BOBs plus a res CC at Melbourne.
Winning BOB at Sydney and Adelaide Royals under Michelle Billings (USA) and Hans Lehtinen (Finland) and BIS at SSS of NSW under Svend Lovenjaer (Denmark) and BIS at the SSS of ACT under Rick Glendinning (Canada) were amongst his finest hours!  
In 2000, Melchett has five Group 1sts from Jim McKender, Guy Spagnolo and Max Martin, Agnes Martin and Darren Bowey. He was RUBIS at the ACT Gundog Ch Show in June under Glen Vernon and went one better with BIS at the November Gundog Show with BIS from Denise Sandow. Melchett was once again BOB at Canberra Royal. At Sydney Kennel Club he was BOB under Ferelith Sommerfield (UK).
Melchett is the ONLY Springer in 2000 to win both a Royal BOB and a Ch Specialty BIS!
Melchett has started off 2001 in style with a Group 2 followed by a Group 1 and BEST IN SHOW!!! After winning BOB at Canberra Royal 2001, he won several more Group firsts! 
He won his SEVENTH Specialty Challenge in October 2001, more than any other Springer currently being shown and is one of those rare Springers that has both Specialty BIS and Major Royal BOBs!!.
He has three Champion children, Ch Rothley Centre Stage (a Specialty CC winner), Ch Rothley Leading Lady (a Specialty CC winner) and Ch Rothley Standing Ovation, and his other son Rothley Critics Choice, was best dog and RUBIS at the Club open show under Michael Boothroyd (UK). These were from the only litter he sired. At the April 2000 ESSC of NSW Ch Show, Melchett won the Sire and Progeny class.

Melchett won the Dog CC & Runner up BOB (aged 9 1/2) under Bob Jackson (Mompesson) at the Sporting Spaniel Show in April 2002. This was his retirement show.
He will now watch his younger kennel mates in the showring, including his favourite niece Denise!
A very happy go lucky dog, Melchett spends most of his time as Top dog in the house with his best friend Ollie.

We lost Melchett in August 2004, he was a fabulous dog, with so much energy and enthusiasm for life in and out of the ring.
